The Kingdom of God is Here

Luke 17:20-21 Being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, he answered them, “The kingdom of God is not coming with signs to be observed, 21 nor will they say, ‘Look, here it is!’ or ‘There!’ for behold, the kingdom of God is in the midst of you.

I finally have better understanding of what Jesus meant, when he said …”for behold, the kingdom of God is in the midst of you”. I used to wonder what He meant, because surely I am not in any such Kingdom right now. I am still in the world and it’s filled with evil.

To go a step farther, I used to wish for death, so that I could die and enter into the Kingdom of God. Believing death was entry into His kingdom, it seemed like the best thing that could happen to a believer. Certainly, it is a far better place than here.

I realize today that I no longer desire for death, just so I can finally enter into the Kingdom and have my eternal destiny sealed. On the contrary, my eternal fate has already been sealed upon my acceptance of Jesus Christ AND just as He is in me, so the Kingdom of God is also within in me and I am very much part of it.

Once saved and blessed by the Holy Spirits presence, I entered into the Kingdom of God. It is here and it is now, existing within me as I do the work of the Kingdom. Granted, I am in part of the Kingdom that extends into darkness, but in this darkness I hold a light and the work of the Kingdom is to direct others into that light which shines the brightest.

It is good for you that I remain alive and be part of this world, just as it is for me to be here. For when I die, I no longer have opportunity to do the works of this world, therefore I will be unable to receive rewards for the works I allow Him to complete in and through me.

My works are meaningless, except that I am the vessel allowing Him to do these works through me. In this, I have grand blessing and am promised rewards in heaven which I am truly unworthy and undeserving of.

Nevertheless, only here do I have opportunity to do the greatest work for the Kingdom of God. Only by His amazing grace am I given the magnificent opportunity to serve, for He really does not need me.
